Today is World Autism Day. I want to draw attention to some of the wonderful support groups and organisations who work tirelessly to support families and people with autism in my constituency.

The City of Wolverhampton College’s Bilston campus, which I have visited caters for up to 12 students aged 16-25. It features a sensory room, interactive technology and breakaway spaces, as well as adapted lighting and a range of equipment suitable for students with high dependency needs including height adjustable tables and changing facilities.

There is an autism support group which meets in Portobello’s Royal Oak pub every Wednesday evening for parents of autistic children. More information about the group can be found here: ASD, PDA, ADHD Support Group – Walsall, Wolverhampton and Surrounding Areas

Finally, Gazebo Theatre are launching a new social group for anyone aged 18 or over affected by autism, either diagnosed or undiagnosed.

The group will launch today at 6pm and will then meet weekly on Tuesdays from 6pm-8pm at The Gazebo Hub, Chancel Court, 2 Wellington Road, Bilston. Please click http://socsi.in0/972G to read more.

Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, parents and professionals who work tirelessly to ensure these groups continue to provide essential support.
