Pat McFadden MP Wolverhampton South East Representing Bilston South, Bilston North, East Park, Ettingshall North, Ettingshall South and Spring Vale, Bentley and Darlaston North, Darlaston South, Willenhall South.
Last week, alongside the two other Wolverhampton MPs, I met with council officers and Detective Chief Inspector Tom Chisolm to discuss the city’s approach to tackling knife crime, in particular youth knife crime.
I am extremely concerned about the recent rise in knife crime and the city council and the police have introduced short and long-term strategies in the fight against knife crime.
I was pleased to hear about the work being done in schools with children and young people who are vulnerable to being involved in crime. There is outreach provision taking place in target areas in the city too to engage with the most hard to reach young people.
There is still much more which needs to be worked on, but the police and council are taking a very proactive approach in the fight to keep our young people safe.
