Pat becomes Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (SCTAPPG)

I am delighted to be elected as Chair of the APPG for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia. The group does very important work in arguing the case for fair treatment for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia sufferers in the NHS, at work and in the benefits system. I have worked closely with the local Sickle Cell care group based in Bilston for many years and I look forward to carrying on that work at a national level. There are thousands of Sickle Cell sufferers throughout the UK and too often they suffer from inconsistent and sometimes unfair treatment because of a lack of knowledge of the condition and a lack of expertise when dealing with it. I will do what I can through the APPG to get better and more consistent treatment for sufferers.
