The Covid pandemic has been a very tough time for self-employed people. With many lines of work drying up and many self-employed people finding themselves shut out of Government support, a lot of people have suffered steep drops in income. And traditionally, there has been no collective voice for the self-employed. My union, Community union, has organised a campaign to speak up for self-employed people and help them organise collectively. It’s a great example of modern, forward looking trade unionism, adapting to the labour market as it is today and organising to give people a collective voice. Details of the campaign are below.
