GORDON BROWN LETTERThe Prime Minister has written to Pat praising the project and singling it out as a positive example for the rest of the country to follow on the day London Mayor Ken Livingstone is in India promoting similar links for London.

The Prime Minister commends what he describes as a “great partnership” and says, “initiatives such as the Wolverhampton India Project are an excellent way in which to help and encourage trade and investment in both directions between our two countries”.

The Prime Minister also says, “The UK has a great deal to offer India and cultural and sporting links between Wolverhampton and Punjab in particular provide a natural link”

Pat McFadden MP said:

"The Prime Minister’s backing is a great boost for the Wolverhampton-India Project.  He is keen to see British cities playing to their strengths and building better links with the rest of the world and that is exactly what the Wolverhampton India Project is all about.  This is all about the future and the Prime Minister’s support is good news for the city. Our links with India are a real asset in today’s globalised economy and this project is all about making the most of those links in the fields of trade, education and sport.”
