Jo Cox was an MP who was sadly murdered on the 16th June 2016 in her constituency doing the work she loved, as an MP committed to helping the public.

To mark the anniversary of the death of Jo Cox MP, the Jo Cox foundation are asking communities to set up events where residents have a chance to enjoy being together and celebrate what we have in common in our communities rather than what divides us.

The Foundation exists to guide people towards those who are working on the things Jo was passionate about. People who know that it is not enough just to talk about what can make communities stronger or to complain about injustice, indifference or cruelty.

With this in mind, I am hosting a community bake off competition for local residents, schools, places of worship etc. in order to promote unity, cohesion and inclusivity. Each entrant will have the opportunity to bake something sweet (a cake, biscuit, dessert) and have it judged by our all star panel of judges on Friday 22nd June 2018 where we will then whittle down the entries to a final 5 and crown someone or a group ‘Bilston’s Community Bake off Champion(s)’.

Our panel of judges will be made up of; Dicky Dodd from Signal 107, The Mayor and Mayoress of Wolverhampton, Dennice McKinnon (MasterChef finalist) and me.

Each entry will cost £5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Jo Cox Foundation. Please note, any ‘Bake Off’ entries will need to be prepared before the event, we do not have baking facilities on site.
