Pat McFadden MP visits Eastfield Nursery School

On Friday, I visited Eastfield Nursery School.

There is nothing more important than children getting the best start in life. Eastfield Nursery School is an outstanding facility offering fantastic early years education to young children in my constituency. It was great to meet the staff, parents and children and it was a real reminder of how important nursery education is. It is important, that as a country, we support and properly fund nursery schools in our community.

It is obvious that this nursery does a fantastic job for the city’s children yet the Government are proposing cuts to nursery funding which will make the job of Eastfield and nursery schools like it much harder.

In January, I wrote to the Minister in charge about my concerns that the cuts will harm the life chances of local children. I will also continue to keep pressing the issue in Parliament.
