Today I visited a local business in Bilston to hear about their innovative ideas to push for a greener construction industry.

Metal Spraying UK LTD (MS-UK) manufactures and supplies scaffolding products nationally. The site in Bilston who are partnered with and are currently receiving support from the City of Wolverhampton Council’s business growth team have announced expansion plans following the partnership. They will be receiving business support through an ERDF-funded programme AIM (Black Country Advice Investment and Markets), helping with growth potential, inward investment, and market development but also have a keen interest in moving towards a more environmentally friendly construction industry.

Their plans include a move from wooden scaffolding boards which are currently being used, to new plastic boards. The new boards will last far longer than the existing wooden boards, they will cut waste, be more durable and lessen the industries impact on the environment.

It’s fantastic to see a local company innovating in this way, I wish them every success in promoting this new product and if it goes well it will mean more jobs here in Bilston.

Ranjit Dale, Managing Director of MS-UK LTD commented, “I have worked in the industry for many years, and I’m excited about this innovation and I think it could have a great impact on creating a greener construction industry”. Mr Dale also expressed a keen interest in creating employment and training opportunities for young people in the industry and here in Bilston.
