Recently I visited Phoenix Nursery School, I met with the head teacher Mrs Lacey as well as the staff, parents and children there.
I was impressed by the fantastic work the school does and I was particularly impressed by an innovative project they have started which looks at the use of digital projection to enhance children’s learning experiences. Three of the educators that I met had travelled to Sweden in October 2016 to research how digital projection alongside the use of PR codes and iPads can enhance children’s learning experiences. The teachers from Phoenix Nursery School have been working closely with the teachers in Sweden to develop this project and they will be coming over here in April to share best practice.
In addition to this, the nursery school has recently undergone a development which include a new large play area for children.
After recently attending the APPG on Nursery Schools and Nursery Classes and after attending this nursery school, it was a real reminder of how important nursery education is and I believe that it is important, that as a country, we support and properly fund nursery schools in our community.
