I recently visited Windsor nursery school, this is a fantastic facility in the heart of the community.
The school works tirelessly to maximise the life chances and learning of all the children who attend there.
I met with the head teacher Claire Foster as well as parents and children there, the parents praised the nursery and were particularly enthusiastic about the opportunities for play and how much their children’s speech had come on since attending the school.
It was obvious that this nursery does a fantastic job for the city’s children yet the government is proposing cuts to nursery funding which will make the job of Windsor and nursery schools like it much harder.
These cuts are a direct attack on opportunity for my constituents. They will make it much harder for local children to get the best start in life. They are stupid, short-sighted and damaging. I have written to the Government calling on them to change this policy and stop this attack on the life chances of my constituents.
