It was great to meet with West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner and APCC Ashley Bertie last week. They were looking at a review of violent crime in the city and discussing ways of tackling this. They were also grateful for my recent intervention on Police funding and pensions.

I have been campaigning for fair funding for West Midlands Police for a number of years and more recently held a debate in Parliament on the issue of Police pensions. It’s crucial that the Government do not get this issue of Police pensions wrong, if they do, the consequences will result in a cut of a further 50 officers to Wolverhampton police forces.
