In September last year, the online marketplace Ebay UK announced its partnership with City of Wolverhampton. I attended the launch as they announced a 12-month partnership with City of Wolverhampton to help small retailers get online, grow the local economy and demonstrate that online and high street retail can coexist.
The ‘Retail Revival’ partnership has seen experts from the marketplace stationed in the city to provide exclusive support to small retailers who want to start up or expand their online presence.
The offer from Ebay to the businesses involved equips them with skills to learn how to build their offer on Ebay and sell more products, bringing more prosperity to Wolverhampton and hopefully creating local jobs. How people buy things is changing and we need to make the most of new opportunities.
I have been meeting some of the local businesses which are being supported by the partnership and on Friday, I met with Toolsave. It is a brilliant local business innovating in tools. The business is growing from strength to strength and I’m pleased that the business has been boosted from the partnership with Ebay.
