A few weeks ago, I visited the Beacon Centre for the Blind in my constituency. The Beacon Centre does fantastic work supporting those who are visually impaired or blind. They host a range of activities at the centre but also out in the community too.
They are innovating and always looking for new ways and developments in technology to support visually impaired residents.
I visited the centre last year when we opened their new ‘Fab Lab’ which was funded by the Goodyear’s Benevolent fund. It was great to see the Fab Lab growing from strength to strength on my recent visit.
The Fab Lab aims to provide those who are blind or living with a visual-impairment the opportunity to develop new skills. The Fab Lab will help those living with sight loss to learn state of the art digital and design skills which may even help some find employment as well helping many develop personal skills.
