Following the launch of the Road Safety campaign at Hill Avenue Primary School which I held in conjunction with the local police and the school, I was contacted by a local resident, Mike Tolfree, who lives near St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School raising his concerns about similar parking issues outside the school.

He agreed with me, that the most important thing is that children can get to and from school safely. This issue can cause tensions between residents, parents and the school involved so the campaign was aimed at raising awareness to ensure that the children from the school are kept safe on their journey to and from school.

It is a great initiative developed by the City of Wolverhampton Council and WM Fire Service to deter parents from parking dangerously outside of our schools.

Alison, one of the school children involved in today’s campaign explains in the video below why the ‘Safety Outside Schools’ campaign is important.

Thank you to the school children, parents and teachers who embraced the launch of this new initiative today and I look forward to seeing how the initiative works for the school.
